Metro (UK) review

Part Boy's Own adventure, part magical mystery tour, Dr Ragab's Universal Language rattles along with great pace...an always entertaining trip through a series of outlandish scenarios that involve a mysterious mesmerist from 1920s Cairo (the title character) and include bunkers in modern-day England and German bunkers in World War II...[the] ingenious twists and turns of Twigger's funny and fantastical narrative, which combines populism and philosophy...twisting and turning around the shifting, slippery figure of Dr Ragab, it incorporates digressions about politics, mysticism and language without losing its grip on the reader's interest.
